Community Involvement

  • Arthur Marshall Foundation – Summer Intern Project 2005-2008 / coach annual recipient of ARM summer scholarships on team building, presentation skills, and identifying their strengths/values.
  • Anti-Defamation League – A World of Difference Program – 2005-2008 Teaching journaling skills to PB Cty teens chosen each year to participate in a program in Washington DC. They visit the Holocaust Museum, meet with congressmen and senators to speak about tolerance, and participate in activities with other teens of every ethnicity and from 15 major cities around the country. Each student is required to write about their experience and I compile these into a special book. This year I will be going to DC to offer a journaling program to the national group.
  • Girls to Women – currently developing 2 specific projects
  • YWCA – interactive presentation for their Board of Directors
Arthur Marshall Foundation – program for their Board of Directors
  • Women’s Chamber of Commerce – program for their Board of Directors
  • Legal Aid Society – program for their staff
  • Charles Hertzig Foundation – Board Member – 1999-2006
I do pro bono coaching for The Coach Initiative. Most recent project is Stand Up for Kids.

Adversity
I have had two total hip replacements. After the second surgery, there was a painful problem with my leg and I could not walk without a cane. I sought out every possible therapy until, finally after a long and difficult year, through some (non)coincidences, extraordinary guidance, and lots of discipline, I regained my ability to walk normally and easily. From that experience I began to teach workshops on Extraordinary Self-Care in Times of Crisis to various organizations including Victims Services Center in Miami.

Accomplishments

  • I once heard Cokie Roberts say that, no matter what she accomplishes in this lifetime, her greatest satisfaction will always be that she raised healthy happy responsible children. I feel that way too about my own child as well as some other very special young men and women who consider me a surrogate mom.
  • Working with my son when he was very young to overcome his asthma, learning all about healthy food and supportive health habits in the process. That experience led me to go back to school and become a nutritionist and to teach courses in healthy cooking for Natural Gourmet in NYC.
  • Becoming a master certified coach. I have been privileged to do work I love with so many wonderful clients and to be involved with awesome colleagues who do really good work in the world
  • Listening to my heart, recording the words that come through me and eventually publishing 3 (and an about to be published 4th) books of poetry.
  • Partnering with Marsha Lehman to create Authentic Woman Enterprises LLC and develop dozens of tools, including programs, newsletters, and books, that support women to be their best most authentic selves.

Passions

  • Sharing love, bread, and ideas.
  • Living a life that matters / that makes a difference.
  • My family, friends, colleagues. Relationship is my highest value.
  • Knowing my values and valuing my knowing. Encouraging others to do the same.
  • Choosing happiness every day. Coaching others to do the same.
  • Living with a sense of awe and gratitude always.
  • Reading, inquiring, learning something new every day.
